By Rachel Partington on January 7, 2025

We are excited to announce that on January 6, 2025, the Tufts libraries transitioned to a new, more secure authentication system for accessing electronic resources called OpenAthens.

Login Experience

For most users (faculty, students, and staff), logging into library databases will remain the same. Simply use your Tufts username and password.

If you currently use a Library Access Number, you will have received an email regarding your new login credentials for OpenAthens.

Links to Resources

The links to access library electronic resources have changed. Library Technology Services (LTS) will automatically update existing EZproxy links to OpenAthens-compatible links in:

  • JumboSearch

  • Library websites

  • Research guides

  • Canvas reading lists

Researchers must manually update EZproxy links in:

  • Canvas syllabi and course pages

  • Course webpages

  • Citation managers (like EndNote and Zotero)

  • And personal bookmarks in browsers

Important: please wait until January 13th to update any links.

Support

To help with this transition, Library Technology Services has created the following resources:

Timeline

EZproxy links will continue to function for most library resources throughout the spring semester and into summer.

We aim to fully transition away from EZproxy before the start of the fall semester 2025
