We have an exciting slate of brand new workshops lined up for you this month! Whether you want to master advanced database search techniques, take control of your reference library, or find dedicated time to work on your writing alongside peers, we have a session designed for you.
A few changes from last year:
- Workshops will all be on Thursdays at 12pm, held in-person in MedEd510 (you can bring your lunch!)
- They will be 30 minutes instead of a full hour. We hope this makes it easier to pop in during your busy day.

MeSH, Emtree, etc: What are they and when do you need them?
Description: Searching for articles using only keywords can feel like a game of guess-and-check, especially when different authors use different words for the exact same concept. That’s where database subject headings come in. Systems like MeSH in PubMed and Emtree in Embase act like smart topic labels, gathering all relevant papers under one roof no matter how the authors phrased things. In this short, accessible session, we’ll break down what these subject headings are, why they’re a secret weapon for thorough literature searches, and how to know when it’s time to use them.
