Directions to Hirsh Health Sciences Library

From the West (Massachusetts Turnpike I-90)

1. Take the "South Station" exit (#24-A).
2. Turn left onto Kneeland Street.
3. Take a left onto Harrison Avenue (there is a Chase Bank on the corner). Number 145 is on the right just beyond St. James Church.

From the South (Interstate 93)

1. Take Exit 20 and continue straight, following the signs to "South Station" past the left hand exit to I-90 East.
2. Get into the left-hand lane at the split, and follow the signs for "South Station" and "Chinatown."
3. Turn left at the 2nd set of lights onto Kneeland Street.
4. Turn left at the third set of lights onto Harrison Avenue (there is a Chase Bank on the corner). Number 145 is on the right just beyond St. James Church.

From the North (Interstate 93)

1. Take the South Station exit (#20-A), onto Purchase Street.
2. Continue along Purchase Street, which becomes Surface Artery, to Kneeland Street.
3. Turn right onto Kneeland Street.
4. Take a left onto Harrison Avenue (there is a Chase Bank on the corner). Number 145 is on the right just beyond St. James Church.

Storrow Drive

1. Take the Copley Square/Clarendon Street Exit.
2. Veer right and then turn onto Clarendon.
3. Make a left onto Boylston Street, a right onto Arlington Street, and a left onto Stuart Street (Stuart Street changes into Kneeland Street after crossing Washington Street).
4. Make a right at Harrison Avenue (there is a Chase Bank on the corner). Number 145 is on the right just beyond St. James Church.

Massachusetts Avenue

1. From the North (Cambridge) turn left onto Columbus Avenue.
2. Make a left onto Boylston Street, a right onto Arlington Street, and a left onto Stuart Street (Stuart Street changes into Kneeland Street after crossing Washington Street).
3. Make a right at Harrison Avenue (there is a Chase Bank on the corner). Number 145 is on the right just beyond St. James Church.
4. From the South (Dorchester) turn right onto Washington Street.
5. Make a right onto Kneeland Street and a right at the first light onto Harrison Avenue (there is a Chase Bank on the corner). Number 145 is on the right just beyond St. James Church.

Parking is available on the street, in the Tufts Medical Center garage at 274 Tremont Street (next to the Wang Theatre), and in other lots adjacent to the medical center.

Note that New England Medical Center changed its name to Tufts Medical Center in 2008, however the adjacent subway station is still often called New England Medical Center or Tufts-New England Medical Center.

Red Line (Downtown Crossing)

1. Exit the train station at Chauncy Street. Turn right (to go south) and stay on this road, which becomes Harrison Avenue when it crosses Essex.
2. Cross Kneeland Street at the set of lights. Number 145 is on the right just beyond St. James Church.

Orange Line (Tufts Medical Center)

1. Turn left on Washington Street.
2. Go right onto Kneeland Street. Turn right onto Harrison Avenue. Number 145 is on the right just beyond St. James Church.
3. Alternatively, follow the directions below to walk to the library through Tufts Medical Center.

Green Line (Boylston/Theater District)

1. Walk forward from the exit down Tremont Street (going south) and turn left at the lights on Stuart Street.
2. Walk down Stuart Street, which becomes Kneeland Street.
3. Turn right on to Harrison Avenue. Number 145 is on the right just beyond St. James Church.

Silver Line (Tufts Medical Center)

1. Go left on Washington Street.
2. Take a right onto Kneeland Street. Turn right onto Harrison Avenue. Number 145 is on the right just beyond St. James Church.

Two routes starting from the Orange Line Tufts Medical Center Station

1. From the Atrium go to the 3rd floor of Tufts Medical Center and through to the Dental School building. Take a right and cross the Bridge to the 4th floor of the Medical Education Building.
2. Enter Tufts Medical Center through the revolving doors directly across from the subway station. Walk straight ahead on the first floor, past an Au Bon Pain on the left, and through the revolving doors of the Atrium at the end. Walk down Bennet Street and turn left at Harrison Avenue. Just past Harvard Street the entrance to the Tufts Center for Medical Education is on the left.
