Library Services for Special Needs

Please contact the Hirsh Health Sciences Library (HHSL), if you are a member of the Tufts community with special needs and would like to discuss access to HHSL library resources.  On a case-by-case basis, the library can offer a variety of services, free of charge.

Depending on an individual's needs, these services may include, but are not limited to:

Book/Journal Retrieval

Request items from the HHSL collection be brought to the Library Service Desk on the fourth floor of the library for pick-up at the Library Service Desk. Regular Circulation and Borrowing Policies apply.

Book Delivery

Request items from the HHSL Book Stacks be checked out to you remotely and delivered to an office, lab, or off campus address.

Electronic Delivery

Request electronic delivery of articles and book chapters from the HHSL collection via ILLiad. Rush service is not available without a fee.

Reference Assistance

In addition to in-person reference assistance, librarians are available via e-mailphone, and instant messaging chat.

Accessible Computer Workstations

All public PCs are equipped with accessibility tools, such as a magnifier, available from the start menu (start > Programs > Accessories > Accessibility). One computer in room 514 of the Medical Education Building and one in 510 can accommodate wheelchair accessibility. These workstations can also project to the large screen at the front of the room, and therefore be used by instructors.
