Copyright and Fair Use

If a work is under copyright and no allowances have been explicitly stated, fair use, which is the balance in copyright law that addresses the importance of educational advancement, among other things, may apply.  Consider the factors of fair use when determining if you can reuse a work.

If this is not for educational purposes and fair use does not apply, consider contacting the rights holder or a permissions brokering agency, such as the Copyright Clearance Center, about obtaining permissions.  A fee may be associated.   Alternatively, find a suitable substitute image that allows your reuse.
